Photographs of and from Craiglockhart

Craiglockhart is an attractive area allowing a variety of gentle strolls - along the tow path of the Union Canal, around Craiglockhart pond or through Craiglockhart Dell.

For an even more leasurely approach to seeing some of our area there are classic boat trips on the canal available from Ashley Terrace Bridge (by Harrison Park) on Sundays during the warmer months.  These are run by the Edinburgh Canal Society who also hire out family rowing boats by the hour on a Sunday afternoon. For more details contact The Boatman on 0131 556 4503.

For the more energetic there are steep climbs up the wooded Easter Craiglockhart Hill to be rewarded by splendid panoramic views over the city.

The sporting minded are well catered for with the multiple facilities at Craiglockhart Sports and Tennis Centres. The latter hosts International class tennis events through the year on its 8 outdoor and 6 indoor tennis courts but it is also "open to all".

Other indoor facilities include a fully equipped Pulse Centre, squash courts, badminton courts and a dance studio.

There are also new indoor and outdoor sports facilities becoming available at the new Meggetland sports complex.

Golfers are also well looked after with the challenging Merchants of Edinburgh course following the contours of both Easter and Wester Craiglockhart hills.
